McMann-Kaufman, Head-Voelker, McDaniel-Tavares Added to Aug. 28 UFC Card

The UFC’s second event on Fox Sports 1 received several new additions on Tuesday, as promotion officials announced that Sara McMann will face Sarah Kaufman in a pivotal women’s 135-pound pairing.

The Aug. 28 event will also see James Head take on durable welterweight Bobby Voelker, while “Ultimate Fighter 17” alum Bubba McDaniel locks horns with “TUF 11” vet Brad Tavares. The show is headlined by a 170-pound rematch pitting former interim champion Carlos Condit against Martin Kampmann and takes place at Bradley Center in Indianapolis.

An Olympic silver medalist in freestyle wrestling, McMann, 32, has racked up seven straight victories to start her MMA career, most recently trouncing Sheila Gaff in her Octagon debut this past April at UFC 159. Five years younger than her foe, Kaufman has gone 4-1 since losing her Strikeforce title in 2010, with her only loss in that span coming to reigning UFC champion Ronda Rousey. Kaufman last competed on April 5, when she took a split decision from a game Leslie Smith at Invicta FC 5.

Head, 29, saw a two-fight winning streak snapped this past December, when he was knocked out by veteran Mike Pyle at “The Ultimate Fighter 16” finale. Voelker, meanwhile, dropped a unanimous decision to Patrick Cote in his UFC debut this past March, which halted a three-fight winning streak for the ex-Strikeforce talent.

McDaniel earned a measure of redemption in his official UFC debut after coming up short during the “TUF 17” taping, submitting cast mate Gilbert Smith at the live finale on April 13. The triumph marked the seventh straight victory for McDaniel, who holds 16 of his 21 wins via submission. Tavares has won three in a row since suffering his lone career defeat to Aaron Simpson in 2011, notching victories over Dongi Yang and Tom Watson before outpointing Riki Fukuda on March 3 at UFC on Fuel TV 8.
