A high stakes five-round featherweight affair between Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira will headline the UFC’s debut event in Saskatoon, Sask., Canada, on Aug. 23.

The event has been rumored for several months. The StarPhoenix today reported the location, venue and main event fight. MMAjunkie later confirmed the news with UFC officials.

Likely to be dubbed UFC Fight Night 74, the fight card will mark the UFC’s 19th overall event in Canada and its first in the province of Saskatchewan. The organization has traveled across the country from Vancouver to Toronto to Montreal to Halifax since its Canadian debut in 2008.

Saskatoon’s SaskTel Centre, which has a capacity of roughly 15,000, will serve as the venue for the card, which will air on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on UFC Fight Pass.

Holloway, No. 8 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA featherweight rankings, is riding a six-fight UFC winning streak. The 23-year-old has finished five of his opponents in that stretch, the most recent being a third-round submission of Cub Swanson at UFC on FOX 15 in April.

“Blessed” hasn’t suffered a defeat since he dropped a decision to Conor McGregor in August 2013. He’s campaigned for a rematch with “The Notorious,” but his wish will have to wait until after he faces Oliveira in the first main event of his UFC career.

Oliveira, No. 10, is also on a hot-streak in the featherweight division. He’s won his past four octagon appearances, with three of those victories by submission. It will be a less than three-month turnaround for Oliveira, who finished Nik Lentz with a third-round submission at UFC Fight Night 67 in May.

“Do Bronx” will also headline an event for the first time in a UFC career that dates back to his August 2010 promotional debut.

Holloway vs. Oliveira is the only fight announced for the card. More matchups are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
