Max Holloway on Conor McGregor tweets: 'No one says that they're my daddy'

When Conor McGregor and Max Holloway met on the preliminary card for UFC Fight Night 26, it was a clash between men who would eventually become top-10 ranked featherweights.

McGregor (17-2 MMA, 5-0 UFC) got the better of the meeting, walking away the victor via unanimous decision. He’s gone on to become one of the UFC’s biggest stars, a self-promotion machine who has the opportunity to wrest the UFC featherweight title from Jose Aldo at UFC 189.

Holloway (13-3 MMA, 9-3 UFC) has improved his game every time out since that April 2013 night, going undefeated over the span of six fights since dropping the decision to McGregor. Holloway pulled off the biggest performance of his career when he stopped Cub Swanson at UFC on FOX 15 this past Saturday.

Following that victory, there was talk of a potential rematch between Holloway and McGregor down the road, leading to a brief twitter spat between the two men.

The barb from McGregor stuck with Holloway.

“To try and tweet something and be this tough guy over the Internet and call someone ‘kids’ and ‘daddy’ – no one says that they’re my daddy,” Holloway told MMAjunkie Radio. “That’s just disrespectful. If I saw him in a hotel or something and the cameras are off, he’s not going to say sh-t to my face. I just felt super disrespected. You don’t go around doing that sh-t. I understand you need to promote yourself and stuff, but you’re just pushing the limit.

“He’s digging his own hole. July 11, we’ll see what happens to him. All I know is that I’m going to get my rematch and I can’t wait.”
