After a memorable UFC debut, “Mr. Finland” Makwan Amirkhani (11-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) is slated for his second UFC bout – and his teammates have a warning for his opponent, fellow featherweight Masio Fullen (10-4 MMA, 1-0 UFC).
Amirkhani today announced the bout, along with this video message from his teammates at Allstars Training Center (via Instagram):
UFC Fight Night 69 takes place June 20 at O2 World Berlin in Germany’s capital city. The entire event streams on UFC Fight Pass. A light-heavyweight bout between recent title challengers Alexander Gustafsson and Glover Teixeira headlines.
Amirkhani, a 26-year-old Iraqi-born Finn who fights out of Sweden, made an impressive and quick promotional debut after stopping Andy Ogle via flying knee in just eight seconds earlier this year. The bout, which took place at UFC on FOX 14 in Stockholm, earned Amirkhani a $50,000 “Fight of the Night” bonus. After the event, he said he planned to buy a bed for his mom, who slept on a mat when Amirkhani was a kid because they couldn’t afford anything more.
He now meets Fullen, a 27-year-old Mexican who appeared on “The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America.” Although he lost his opening-round bout on the reality show, he returned on the undercard of the show’s live finale and earned a split-decision win over Alex Torres. He’s now won three straight pro bouts.
