Lightweights Eddie Alvarez, Patricky ‘Pitbull’ Freire Cleared for Bellator 76 Headliner

Both Eddie Alvarez and Patricky Freire hit their contracted marks at Thursday’s Bellator 76 weigh-ins, clearing the way for Friday’s lightweight headliner to go down as planned.

Alvarez checked in at 155.4 pounds, while “Pitbull” tipped the scales at 154.8. The bout tops a five-fight main draw that will also see Rad Martinez (146) and ex-IFL champion Wagnney Fabiano (145.8) take part in the promotion’s Season 7 featherweight tournament, as they square off with two-time tournament veteran Nazareno Malegarie (145.8) and Akop Stepanyan (146), respectively.

Also vying for the featherweight tournament crown will be hard-punching Mike Richman (145.4), who takes on onetime King of the Cage ace Jeremy Spoon (146). Rounding out the bracket’s quarterfinals will be Cody Bollinger (146) locking horns with Shabulat Shamhalaev (145.6).

The evening’s undercard streams live on Spike.com and will also feature another former King of the Cage champion in Dom O’Grady (170.8), who takes on onetime Strikeforce talent A.J. Matthews (170.4).
