Lewis Gonzalez Steps Up to Face Justin Gaethje for WSOF Lightweight Title

Lewis Gonzalez has replaced the injured Gesias “JZ” Cavalcante to face Justin Gaethje at WSOF 8, MMAWeekly.com learned on Friday.

Company matchmaker Ali Abdel-Aziz and President Ray Sefo confirmed the bout. The two fighters will seek to become the first World Series of Fighting lightweight champion.

Gonzalez (9-0) is fresh of a WSOF win over Antonio McKee at WSOF 4 back in August. The unanimous decision over McKee kept Gonzalez’s professional record perfect, and he will look to continue the trend on the Jan. 10 card.

Gaethje (10-0) will also look to continue his undefeated trend. Eight of his 10 wins have come by knockout or TKO.

WSOF 8 takes place in Hollywood, Fla. at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
