Legacy FC inks former pro boxer Holly Holm to multi-fight deal

holly-holm.jpgRecently retired pro boxer and now-full-time MMA fighter Holly Holm (3-0) has signed a multi-fight deal with the Texas-base Legacy Fighting Championship.

Legacy FC promoter Mick Maynard confirmed the news with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) on Wednesday.

Although an opponent hasn’t been determined, Holm (3-0 MMA, 33-2-3 boxing) will make her promotional debut at Legacy FC 21, which takes place July 19 at Arena Theater in Houston. It’s not clear if she’ll be part of the AXS TV-televised main card.

A pupil of famed trainer Mike Winkeljohn at Jackson-Winkeljohn MMA in Albuquerque, N.M, Holm made her MMA debut in March 2011. The bantamweight fighter defeated Christina Domke via second-round TKO due to leg kicks. Back in February, she made her big-show debut and earned a second-round TKO win over Katie Merrill at Bellator 91.

The 31-year-old, who also has kickboxed professionally, has ended all three of her pro MMA fights with body shots or leg kicks.

A year ago while still boxing, Holm won the WBF, IBA Female and WBAN welterweight titles by avenging a vicious knockout loss to Anne Sophie Mathis. Then in May, after announcing she was planning a full-time move to MMA and would be retiring from boxing, she earned a decision victory over Mary McGee. In her final 28 bouts, she suffered just one loss.
