M-1 Global on Wednesday announced that Swiss fighter Yasubey Enomoto has signed with the promotion. He will step in for injured welterweight Rashid Magomedov, gaining an immediate shot at current 170-pound champion Shamil Zavurov at M-1 Challenge XXV on April 28.
The 27-year-old Enomoto (6-2) is known as a fighter with a strong mix of striking and submission skills. He spent the past year fighting for Sengoku in Japan, where he made it all the way to the final bout of the promotion’s eight-man welterweight grand prix before succumbing to Keita Nakamura.
Zavurov (14-1) is making the second defense of his title at M-1 Challenge XXV. He is currently riding a 10-fight winning streak with all of his fights taking place in either Russia or the Ukraine.
(M-1 Challenge XXV: Zavurov vs. Magomedov 2 streams live from St. Petersburg, Russia, at 11 a.m. ET / 8 a.m. PT on Thursday, April 28 on MMAWeekly.com.)
