Originally rumored to become UFC on FX 3, the event will instead apparently air on sister network Fuel. The show is expected to take place May 15 at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Va., and will also feature a light heavyweight confrontation between Thiago Silva and Igor Pokrajac.
Poirier, 23, rides a five-fight winning streak heading into his showdown with “The Korean Zombie.” The Louisiana native has been perfect in his UFC career thus far, notching four Octagon wins since joining the promotion 13 months ago. Most recently, “The Diamond” impressed at UFC 143 on Feb. 4, submitting newcomer Max Holloway with a mounted triangle armbar in the first round.
Jung comes fresh off of arguably the most important win of his career, as the 24-year-old knocked out former UFC title challenger Mark Hominick in just seven seconds on Dec. 10. The win marked the second straight finish for Jung, who submitted hard-punching Leonard Garcia with a twister this past March. Known for his aggressive style, Jung has been finished just once in four years as a pro and has knocked out or submitted all but two of his fallen foes.
