Joseph Benavidez UFC 156 PostJoseph Benavidez is widely considered the No. 2 flyweight in the world, but considering he’s only one fight removed from losing to current UFC champion Demetrious Johnson, even after defeating Ian McCall, he’s not throwing his weight around… all 125 pounds of it.

“I’m not gonna beg for a title shot,” Benavidez said after his victory at UFC 156, indicating that he is content to keep refining his game for the time being. That doesn’t necessarily mean, however, that he wouldn’t jump right back in the Octagon with Johnson if asked.

“Give me a title shot and I’m going to do everything in my power to go in there and take that as well.”

Check out what else Benavidez had to say at the UFC 156 post-fight press conference…

With last night's (Sat., June 28, 2014) victory over Jeremy Stephens in the main event of UFC Fight Night 44 at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas, Cub Swanson is now undefeated in his last six fights inside the Octagon. Sprinkled in there are three bonus awards and a whole hell of a lot of combat entertainment. So why is it he's still struggling to get into the title discussion? It could be -- and most likely is -- that Jose Aldo is still the king of the featherweight division. That's the sa more

For Cub Swanson, perhaps the sixth time will be the charm. Swanson ran his impressive Octagon win-streak to an even half-dozen on Saturday at UFC Fight Night 44, out-dueling the headhunting Jeremy Stephens en route to a unanimous-decision victory (49-46 x 2, 48-47). The win—over an up-jumped lightweight who himself came in on a three-fight roll—might leave him at the very top of a suddenly robust featherweight division. Then again, maybe not. There is more than just one 145-pound horse in this r more

A shot at the World Series of Fighting lightweight championship is on the line in Gesias Cavalcante vs. Melvin Guillard, but the Brazilian is not thinking about it heading into his WSOF 11 fight with the UFC veteran. Cavalcante, a two-time K-1 Hero’s tournament winner, won’t let a possible shot at the gold change his focus at Saturday’s WSOF card in Daytona Beach, Florida. "My motivation is the fight, not a title shot," Cavalcante told MMAFighting.com. "I see every fight as a title for me now. I more

The UFC 176 main event between featherweight champion Jose Aldo and challenger Chad Mendes is expected to be rescheduled for mid-October, as per Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports. However, if Aldo still isn't fully healed and ready to roll by then, UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta said somebody else might step up to fight Mendes for the chance at an interim featherweight strap. MMA Fighting's Shaun Al-Shatti relayed Fertitta's news, tweeting: Looking at the top five of the UFC's 145-pound division, this makes more

How many fights does an "Eagle" have to win inside the Octagon before he gets a title shot? One more, apparently. Khabib Nurmagomedov has racked up six straight wins inside the Octagon against some rather stiff competition since making his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debut back in 2012. Couple those six victories with the 16 others he won in his undefeated (22-0, 6-0 UFC) professional mixed martial arts (MMA) career, and the Russian-born fighter has made a pretty good case for a title s more
