Joseph Benavidez is widely considered the No. 2 flyweight in the world, but considering he’s only one fight removed from losing to current UFC champion Demetrious Johnson, even after defeating Ian McCall, he’s not throwing his weight around… all 125 pounds of it.
“I’m not gonna beg for a title shot,” Benavidez said after his victory at UFC 156, indicating that he is content to keep refining his game for the time being. That doesn’t necessarily mean, however, that he wouldn’t jump right back in the Octagon with Johnson if asked.
“Give me a title shot and I’m going to do everything in my power to go in there and take that as well.”
Check out what else Benavidez had to say at the UFC 156 post-fight press conference…
