The lead-up to UFC 135 on Sept. 24 in Denver had been fairly quiet… until Tuesday’s kickoff press conference at Braun’s Bar & Grill outside the Pepsi Center.
What started out amicably enough, quickly escalated into intense banter as UFC president Dana White, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson fielded questions from the media and many fans that packed the restaurant.
Both fighters were feisty from the get-go. Jackson was rubbed the wrong way for playing the old-school to Jones’ new school, while Jones seemed to feel slighted for the constant references to his youth and relative inexperience.
With two months to go until fight time, and the friction accelerating at a blistering pace, don’t be surprised if Jon Jones and Rampage Jackson grab many more headlines leading up to the UFC 135 fight card in Denver.
