Joan Jett addresses UFC champ Ronda Rousey's use of 'Bad Reputation'

It’s one of rocker Joan Jett’s seminal hits, but what does she think about UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey using it as her walkout song?

“Bad Reputation,” a song from – and title of – Jett’s iconic 1980 album, has been Rousey’s walkout choice during her relatively short but hugely successful MMA career. The brash and dominant 27-year-old’s event-night walkouts have already become some of the most memorable in the sport.

So what does the 55-year-old Jett think about her song being used for the walkouts, which Rousey first made popular during a string of Strikeforce fights?

“Again, I’m really amazed when people utilize our music to represent them and something that they do,” Jett said Monday at the Alternative Press Music Awards on AXS TV (touch of gloves: MiddleEasy.com). “So, I thought it was so great that she walks out to ‘Bad Reputation.’”

Rousey (10-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) recently posted her fourth UFC title defense and dominated top contender Alexis Davis via a 16-second knockout at UFC 175. Now, she’ll return to promotional duties for her budding Hollywood career, which includes roles in “The Expendables 3,” “Fast & Furious 7? and the “Entourage” movie.

While other contenders jockey for position – and with recent arrival of Holly Holm and the potential signings of Invicta FC champ Cristiane Justino and former Strikeforce fighter Gina Carano – she’ll have no shortage of potential opponents awaiting her.

Rousey is expected to attempt her fifth UFC title defense later this year, though an opponent hasn’t been determined. And as usual, “Bad Reputation” will likely be playing as she heads to the cage.
