Jeremy Stephens Arrested; Dana White Says Bout with Yves Edwards Still On for UFC on FX 5
Just hours prior to his
UFC on FX 5
collision with Yves Edwards
was arrested in Minneapolis. However, the development
will not prevent “Lil’ Heathen” from competing at tonight’s event,
President Dana White.
Sherdog.com verified that the fighter is currently being held
without bail at the Hennepin County Public Safety Facility in
downtown Minneapolis, though any specific charges facing Stephens
have not yet been revealed. According to a report from
MMAJunkie.com, Stephens was arrested Friday morning at the Marriott
City Center Hotel in relation to an out-of-state felony charge. The
fighter reportedly arrived at the Hennepin County Public Safety
Facility at 10:44 a.m. CT.
After several reports were filed online that put Stephens’ fight
status in question, White took to Twitter and ended all mystery by
confirming that Stephens will indeed still compete at tonight’s
event, which is headlined by a heavyweight showdown between
Browne and Antonio
Stephens, 26, recently lost back-to-back fights for the first time
since 2009. Following a stretch during which “Lil’ Heathen” posted
four wins in five outings, the Iowan dropped a split decision to
former World Extreme Cagefighting titlist Anthony
Pettis last October and then fell in a one-sided affair to
another WEC alum in Donald
Cerrone this past May at UFC on Fuel TV 3. A seven-year pro,
Stephens owns 14 of his 20 career victories by knockout and holds
notable wins over Marcus
Davis, Rafael dos
Anjos, Cole Miller

There has never been a combat athlete like Ronda Rousey since the beginning of time, according to Dana White.
Like the rest of the world, the UFC President was absolutely stunned by Rousey’s 16-second knockout win over Alexis Davis at UFC 175. In a post-fight interview with ESPN, White called Rousey a “game-changer.” There’s women who can play basketball. They play in the WNBA, people [shrug it off]. In women’s golf, [people shrug it off], every sport. Ronda Rousey is a woman who can walk down t more
According to UFC President Dana White, Chad Mendes can still receive his rematch with featherweight champion Jose Aldo, he just won't get it on Aug. 2 at UFC 176 as originally scheduled. MMA Junkie's Steven Marrocco reported that White remains willing to reschedule the rematch, and the UFC president is not yet looking for a replacement for the injured champion. “Aldo is going to be out 45 days – the Mendes/Aldo fight can still happen," White said. Dana White could soon honor the show that started it all by inducting every member of The Ultimate Fighter Season 1 cast into the UFC Hall of Fame. Yes, that would even include 0-1 Canadian fighter Jason Thacker.
“I’ve thought about the whole cast should be [in the hall of fame],” White recently told Fox Sports. “Even the Canadian Jason Thacker—without the group of people that we had and the way the synergy worked and the way things went down, that season really launched everything.”

2005 was a simpler time. A time when Willa Ford wrangled smelly Canadians, 200-pound lightweights and future UFC champions competing in convoluted challenges all in the hope of securing a three-year, six figure contract with the UFC.
With Chris Leben's infamous spritz, so began our love affair with season upon season of shirtless, 'Let me bang, bro,' bros. It wasn't all bad. Season 1 of The Ultimate Fighter helped propel the desperate promotion into the American consciousness, undeniably growing more
"Lil Heathen" may have a power advantage on Swanson, but Cub says he has a more impressive resume of victories, which in the end, is what the fight game is all about. Jeremy Stephens believes he will have a power advantage over Cub Swanson when the two talented featherweights collide in the main event of this weekend's (Sat., June 28, 2014) UFC Fight Night 44 event in San Antonio, Texas, saying that his punching power is far superior than that of Cub's.
