Jason 'Mayhem' Miller released from jail following domestic violence arrest

jason-mayhem-miller-11.jpgJason “Mayhem” Miller is out of jail today after a weekend arrest on charges of domestic violence.

Miller was released early this morning from an Orange County (Calif.) jail after posting a $50,000 bond, O.C. Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Jeff Hallock told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).

MMAjunkie.com today filed a records request with the department in order to obtain an official police report of the incident. Hallock was unable to provide details on the arrest, but he said the fighter would likely be due in court within 30 to 60 days.

Miller did not respond to a phone call and text, and his voicemail was full.

By California law, domestic violence is a felony that carries a charge of two to four years in state prison or a minimum of one year in county jail in addition to a fine of $6,000.

According to the O.C. Sheriff’s Department records, the former UFC and Strikeforce fighter was arrested Sunday and placed in the Central Jail Complex in Santa Ana, Calif. He was released Monday at 12:21 a.m. PT.

One year ago, Miller found himself in the same jail when he was arrested on suspicion of burglary following an alleged break-in at a church in Mission Viejo, Calif. Sheriff’s deputies discovered damage to the building, and then Miller, who was found sitting naked on a couch.

Initial reports of the fighter’s most recent arrest stated he was arrested on burglary charges.

It’s the second time Miller has drawn headlines for alleged violence outside the cage. In 2011, he was arrested in North Carolina on a charge of simple assault and false imprisonment following an incident at a party with his sister. He later said he was trying to stop her from driving and that the charges were “over with.” (MMAjunkie.com was unable to verify the status of the case.)

Miller (28-9), a veteran of nearly every major MMA promotion, hasn’t fought since he was released from the UFC following a lackluster decision loss to C.B. Dollaway at UFC 148 in July 2012.

Since his exit, the fighter has claimed the industry-leader has failed to pay for a knee surgery that was the result of an injury sustained in the cage. The UFC countered that it met its obligations to Miller.
