James McSweeney vs. Chris Lokteff among 'ONE FC 15: Rise of Heroes' additions


james-mcsweeney-tuf-11-finaleEnglish kickboxer and UFC veteran James McSweeney (12-11) will makes his promotional debut against fellow heavyweight Chris Lokteff (12-1) at “ONE FC 15: Rise of Heroes.”

Officials today announced that matchup and two others.

ONE FC 15 takes place May 2 at SM Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines. The card streams via online pay-per-view in North America.

McSweeney, a semifinalist on “The Ultimate Fighter 10? who ultimately went 1-2 in the UFC, has won six of his past eight MMA fights, including a May 2013 TKO of former Strikeforce fighter Dion Staring. Most recently, the 33-year-old rebounded from a loss to Paul Buentello with a November submission victory over Stefan Traunmuller (8-2-1 at the time) in Slovenia.

His opponent, Lokteff, is an Australian prospect who won his first eight pro bouts via knockout, seven in the first round. After suffering his first career loss to Sam Kei in 2012, the 27-year-old went 4-0 in 2013 with three stoppages.

In addition to that bout, Aung La N Sang (14-9), a submission specialist and the first ONE FC fighter from Myanmar, takes on Egyptian striker Mahmoud Salama (4-4). Also, Jujeath Nagaowa (0-0), a pro boxer, becomes the first Filipina MMA fighter in ONE FC when she meets Indian kickboxing champion Jeet Toshi (2-1).

The latest ONE FC 15 card now includes:

  • Champ Bibiano Fernandes vs. Masakatsu Ueda – for bantamweight title
  • Yusuke Kawanago vs. Rob Lisita
  • Gianni Subba vs. Eugene Toquero
  • Chris Lokteff vs. James McSweeney
  • Aung La N Sang vs. Mahmoud Salama
  • Jujeath Nagaowa vs. Jeet Toshi
