UFC veteran Anthony Johnson (15-4 MMA, 7-4 UFC) in his heavyweight debut won by unanimous decision against former UFC champ Andrei Arlovski (19-10 (1) MMA, 10-4 UFC) at World Series of Fighting 2 on March 23 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. At the end of round one “Rumble” almost ended the fight by knockout, but the Belarusian was saved by the bell. Later on, NJ State Athletic Commission suspended the Belarusian with a broken jaw.
According to Jackson's MMA, the first round went on about 8 seconds too long, and Johnson landed "a devastating blow".
“The NJ athletic commission was worried about the World Series of Fighting getting a new canvas and new corner pads for the cage they almost canceled the fight Saturday night. Unfortunately they forgot to get a time keeper that was trained properly. 1st round 5min 8 sec in the Andrei fight. A devastating blow was landed after the 5min mark. It's amazing how so much time is spent with over regulating but the simple things can cost dearly.” Wrote Jackson’s crew on facebook.
