The 14-bout, all-women’s fight card takes place at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kan., and is headlined by a bantamweight clash between submission specialist Shayna Baszler and 2004 Olympic wrestling silver medalist Sara McMann. The co-main event pits Hitomi Akano against Alexis Davis in another 135-pound clash. The live stream on InvictaFC.com kicks off at 7 p.m. ET with a six-fight preliminary card.
“We are excited about delivering a stacked women’s fight card to a global audience for the second time in a three-month span,” Invicta FC President and co-founder Shannon Knapp stated in a release. “The live stream is an excellent way of supporting Invicta FC’s mission of providing women mixed martial artists with a major platform to showcase their skills on and to support the growth of women’s MMA far and wide.”
The three-person broadcast team for Invicta FC 2 includes Showtime analyst Mauro Ranallo, Strikeforce bantamweight Julie Kedzie and Bellator Fighting Championships talent Muhammed Lawal.
Baszler will carry a four-fight winning streak into her matchup with McMann. “The Queen of Spades” owns notable victories over Kedzie, Roxanne Modafferi and Jan Finney but has not competed since submitting Elaina Maxwell with a kneebar in November 2010. Thirteen of the South Dakota native’s 14 career triumphs have come by way of submission.
McMann [pictured: right] made her pro MMA debut more than a year ago and hasn’t tasted defeat since, racking up five wins, including three by knockout or submission. Most recently she took a unanimous decision against Akano at ProElite 3 in February.
