Here's what Nate Diaz thinks about your stinkin' UFC uniforms

Most fighters reacted to Tuesday’s announcement of the new UFC-Reebok uniform policy with cautious optimism. Then there was contrarian Nate Diaz.

The veteran lightweight, who’s previously butted heads with the organization on a variety of topics, including his pay and how title shots are granted, didn’t curb his criticism of the landmark deal.

Following the announcement of the “athlete outfitting policy,” which will use a tiered system of fighter compensation based on their UFC rankings, Diaz issued a simple response (via Twitter):

Six hours later, Diaz, who’s previously criticized fighters who’ve claimed their phones were hacked after issuing controversial social-media postings, posted the following (via Twitter), presumably in a sarcastic manner:

Diaz’s criticism was in sharp contrast to the initial reactions of most UFC fighters to the uniform deal, which goes into effect in mid-2015. The reactions seemed largely enthusiastic, though a few were hesitant to make a determination until they learn the details (including the financials) involved.

And there was Diaz, who’s often suggested he’s “really underappreciated, underpaid, under-all-kinds-of-sh-t” when it comes to his place in the world’s most prominent MMA organization.

Up next for Diaz (17-9 MMA, 12-7 UFC) is a UFC on FOX 13 co-headliner with Rafael dos Anjos (22-7 MMA, 11-5 UFC). The network-televised event takes place Dec. 13 at Phoenix’s U.S. Airways Center. Dos Anjos is No. 4 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA lightweight rankings, and Diaz is No. 8.
