Henry Cejudo May Have Broken Hand in Joseph Benavidez Fight | MMAWeekly.com

Henry Cejudo fought a back-and-forth battle with Joseph Benavidez on Saturady night at The Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale in Las Vegas. He ended up on the wrong side of a split decision, but his bad luck didn’t end there. Cejudo injured his hand in the fight.

“I think my left hand, I might have broke it on his chin,” Cejudo said on Monday in an interview with The MMA Hour. “Might have been the first (round). I don’t know if it’s broken, but I know it’s probably fractured. My hand is swollen.”

Henry CejudoDespite the injury, Cejudo kept fighting, going the full three rounds in the co-main event fight.

Revealing that his next will be the final fight on his contract, Cejudo is ready to get back in the Octagon as soon as possible, but realizes that, depending upon what x-rays of his hand reveal, he might be sidelined a little longer than he had hoped.

“I’m gonna get an x-ray (on Monday). A lot of it is going to be determined by what happens with my hand,” said Cejudo. “I wanna fight as soon as possible, as soon as my hand will allow.”

Cejudo indicated that he’s unlikely to sign a new deal before fighting out his current contract. He didn’t say that he was unhappy fighting for the UFC, but seemed to think it would be in his best interest to finish his current contract before inking a new one.
