Grice-Lamas Planned for UFC Live 4

A featherweight scrap featuring former lightweights Matt Grice and Ricardo Lamas (Pictured) is in the works for UFC Live 4, the promotion announced on Friday.

Headlined by Nate Marquardt’s welterweight debut against Anthony Johnson, UFC Live 4 will go down June 26 from the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, marking the promotion’s inaugural trip to the Steel City. Also expected for the event are featherweight scraps featuring former lightweight standouts Tyson Griffin and Joe Stevenson, as they debut at 145 pounds against Manny Gamburyan and Javier Vazquez, respectively. The main card will air on the Versus network.

Grice debuted with the UFC in 2007, going 1-3 in the promotion before receiving his walking papers. After winning four straight bouts on the local circuit, the Oklahoman has been given another shot in the UFC, this time at featherweight. Known as “The Real One,” Grice has finished nine of his 13 career victims since turning pro in 2005. The 29-year-old’s lone win in the Octagon came at UFC 77, where he won a split decision over Jason Black.

Representing team Top Notch, Lamas is a six-time WEC veteran, earning a 4-2 record inside the blue cage. The 28-year-old debuted with the promotion in 2009, outpointing rugged veteran Bart Palaszewski. Lamas went on to defeat James Krause, Dave Jansen and Bendy Casimir during his time in the WEC, falling to Danny Castillo and most recently Yuri Alcantara at the promotion’s final show in December. Lamas’ upcoming bout with Grice marks the Illinois native’s UFC debut.
