Muay Thai wrecking machine Germaine De Randamie will be making her Strikeforce debut on Jan. 29. She faces Stephanie Webber in an undercard bout for the show in San Jose, Calif.
Gary Ibarra from AMR Group, who represents De Randamie, informed MMAWeekly.com of the booking on Wednesday.
De Randamie comes into Strikeforce with an unreal 45-0 record in Muay Thai competitions, but over the last couple of years she’s put her focus on her MMA career.
“I always wanted to challenge myself and push myself to the limit. I think in MMA I’m doing that because I’ve been doing stand-up fights for so long, and now I’m doing wrestling, jiu-jitsu, boxing, stand-up, it’s so hard, but it’s a challenge. I love it,” De Randamie told MMAWeekly.com in late 2010.
To get her ready for her return to MMA, De Randamie sought out famed coach Cesar Gracie to take over her training regimen, and has been working alongside his time in California for the past several months.
Facing De Randamie in her Strikeforce debut will be Stephanie Webber, who also makes her first appearance with the organization. At 1-1 overall, Webber has about the same MMA experience as De Randamie, but will likely not look for a stand up fight with the multi-time Muay Thai champion.
The bout between De Randamie and Webber will be an undercard fight for the Showtime broadcast taking place on Jan. 29 in San Jose.
