Fans swoon as 'Sexyama' takes off his shirt, and the video is hilarious

North American fight fans may never truly understand the sexual power of Yoshihiro Akiyama, but this video may help.

The South Korean-Japanese fighter, perhaps best known as “Sexyama,” returned from a 14-month layoff as part of Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 79 event. There, at Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul, Akiyama (14-6 MMA, 2-6 UFC) suffered a split-decision loss to fellow middleweight Alberto Mina (12-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) to continue a late-career slide.

However, before the 40-year-old vet even entered the cage, he took off his shirt, and the UFC Fight Pass stream picked up some of the audible swoons (moans?). However, the good folks at Reddit MMA uncovered a video taken from within the crowd, and the reactions – both male and female – are even clearer. (Check out the Reddit comments for a laugh.)

It’s not clear if UFC Fight Night 79 was the final bout for Akiyama, who’s undecided on retirement now that he’s in a 1-5 skid. However, Akiyama, who’s married to a fashion model and stars in a popular reality TV show with his daughter, clearly has options outside the cage.
