Ernest Chavez vs. Zubaira Tukhugov added to UFC Fight Night 53 in Sweden

A featherweight bout between Ernest Chavez (7-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) and Zubaira Tukhugov (16-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC) has joined the lineup for UFC Fight Night 53 in Sweden.

UFC officials today announced the fight.

UFC Fight Night 53 takes place Oct. 4 at Ericsson Globe in Stockholm. The event is expected to stream on UFC Fight Pass.

Chavez opened his UFC career earlier this year and ran his undefeated record to 7-0 with a split-decision victory over Yosdenis Cedeno. However, in his most recent bout, the 27-year-old Californian, who previously competed for BAMMA USA, suffered a submission loss to Elias Silverio at the TUF Brazil 3 Finale. A subsequent booking with Mirsad Bektic at UFC Fight Night 49 was scratched when Chavez suffered an injury.

He now meets Tukhugov, a 23-year-old who signed with the UFC after posting a six-fight winning streak (with three knockouts) while competing for Cage Warriors and organizations in his native Russia. In his UFC debut, he extended the winning streak to seven with a unanimous-decision victory over Douglas Silva de Andrade at UFC Fight Night 36.

The latest UFC Fight Night 53 card now includes:

• Nico Musoke vs. Amir Sadollah
• Niklas Backstrom vs. Mike Wilkinson
• Ernest Chavez vs. Zubaira Tukhugov
