Donald Cerrone 'knows a guy' if Georges St-Pierre wants a fight at UFC 200

After picking up an impressive win in his welterweight debut against Alex Oliveira in the main event of UFC Fight Night 83, Donald Cerrone has his sights set on bigger game.

Cerrone (29-7 MMA, 16-4 UFC) jumped to the 170-pound division after a disappointing and quick defeat at the hands of Rafael dos Anjos at UFC on FOX 17. He returned to form in the bout with Oliveira, breaking out the triangle choke that was once his bread and butter to finish the fight at the 2:33 mark of Round 1.

Now holding an honorable mention spot in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA pound for pound rankings, Cerrone is taking advantage of the recent talk surrounding Georges St-Pierre (25-2 MMA, 19-2 UFC).

St-Pierre was in attendance at UFC 196, leading to speculation that the UFC legend could return to active competition. Cerrone tweeted that, if “GSP” does wish to step back in the cage, he would be happy to welcome him.

“Hey GSP @ufc #200 I know a guy,” Cerrone wrote.

At the UFC 196 post-fight press conference, UFC President Dana White did confirm that the promotion has been in talks with St-Pierre, who has not fought since UFC 167 on Nov. 16, 2013, though little progress had been made.

“It’s still a rumor,” White said. “Georges just wanted to come to the fight tonight. Have we been talking to Georges? Yes we have. But who knows. I honestly, right here, right now, don’t know if Georges still wants to fight.”

Should the return actually happen, Cerrone vs. St-Pierre would seem to be a big money fight.
