Ronda Rousey UFC 157The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences this week nominated UFC Presents: Breaking Ground, Ronda Rousey for an Emmy in the category of Outstanding Sports Documentary.

The program went into detail, profiling Rousey’s rise as the first female champion in UFC history, detailing her childhood trauma and the complicated relationship with her mother that fueled her athletic endeavors.

The Rousey documentary is one of four nominated for the Outstanding Sports Documentary award that will be handed out on May 6 at the Time Warner Center in New York City. The other nominees include NBC’s First: The Official Film of the London Olympic Games, Showtime’s LT: The Life and Times, and NBA TV’s The Doctor.

The show was produced by A. Smith & Co., which also produces the UFC Countdown shows that also air on FOX Sports 1.
