Danzig-Wiman Rematch Added to UFC Live 6 Draw

Mac Danzig and Matt Wiman will finally settle the score this October.

UFC officials today announced that the lightweights will throw down at UFC Live 6, joining a welterweight scrap between Charlie Brenneman and Anthony Johnson on the card. While not officially announced by the promotion as of yet, the event is expected to go down Oct. 1 at a to-be-announced location.

Danzig (Pictured) and Wiman first met in June 2010 at UFC 115. The bout ended prematurely and controversially when referee Yves Lavigne erroneously believed Danzig to be unconscious while trapped inside of a Wiman guillotine choke. The fighters were scheduled to rematch in September, but injuries to both men scrapped that plan.

A 10-year veteran of the sport, Danzig has won two of his last three after dropping a triplet of bouts from 2008 to 2009. The 31-year-old rebounded from those losses by notching a unanimous decision victory over Justin Buchholz in February 2010 before falling to Wiman later that year. Danzig returned to his winning ways in December, knocking out Joe Stevenson with a counter punch at UFC 124.

Wiman had a three-fight winning streak snapped on July 2 when he was outpointed by Dennis Siver at UFC 132. Though Wiman delivered the most significant damage of the fight in the second round, all three ringside judges awarded Siver the first and final rounds, resulting in a unanimous decision defeat for the American.

Prior to that loss, Wiman had earned Octagon wins over Shane Nelson, Cole Miller and Danzig, respectively.
