Dana White: 'It's Winding Down for Ronda Rousey' ... But What's Next? | MMAWeekly.com

Former women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey returns to the Octagon for the first time in more than a year at UFC 207 on Dec. 30 against current titleholder Amanda Nunes. While “Rowdy” is officially back, her return may be short-lived.

During a recent appearance on Ellen Degeneres’ talk show, Rousey hinted that she won’t be fighting for much longer.

“This is definitely one of my last fights. Everyone better watch because the show isn’t going to be around forever,” she said.

TMZ caught up with UFC president Dana White on Wednesday and asked about Rousey’s comments.

“I don’t want to take the wind out of her sail. Let her say her own stuff. Obviously, I know what’s going on with her. But, yeah, it’s winding down for Ronda,” said White.

Questioned how many fights that he believes Rousey has left before retiring from competition, White didn’t have a concrete answer.

Ronda Rousey UFC 190 weigh smile“That’s up to her to say. I don’t want to steal her thunder. It’s her career, but she’ll have enough for us to still enjoy watching her,” he said.

We’ve seen former champions retire only to later return. Randy Couture did it, B.J. Penn has, and Georges St-Pierre is looking to do the same, among others. When Rousey says that she’s done fighting, White believes that will be it.

“Ronda Rousey has made a lot of money. She’s made a lot of money. She’s accomplished what she set out to do,” he said. “And she loves acting. I think she’s good at it. If she dedicates herself to it, she’ll be even better at it.

“I think when she says she’s done that she’s done. At the end of the day, she stopped doing Judo. She moved on to mixed martial arts. I think when she’s done with that, she’ll probably move on to acting.”
