Cub Swanson at UFC 169? 'They brought me out, so that must say something'

Could the UFC’s possible next featherweight title challenger be cageside tonight for UFC 169?

Cub Swanson (20-5 MMA, 5-1 UFC) will be at Newark, N.J.’s Prudential Center, where he’ll be paying special attention to the pay-per-view co-headliner between champion Jose Aldo (23-1 MMA, 5-0 UFC) and challenger Ricardo Lamas (13-2 MMA, 4-0 UFC).

“Well, I’m here,” Swanson told MMAjunkie. “They brought me out, so that must say something. I think I’m definitely the favorite, but they haven’t given me any confirmation on me being the next in line. I’m hoping for it, and I know the fans want to see it, so we’ll see what happens.”

In addition to Aldo (No. 1 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA featherweight rankings) and Lamas (No. 3), the top of the featherweight division also includes Swanson (No. 4). But No. 2, Chad Mendes (16-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC), also has a case for a title shot, and he’s also awaiting his next booking. Should he take precedence over Swanson?

Check out Swanson’s prediction for tonight’s title fight, as well as his preferred opponent, above.
