Cris Cyborg Becomes U.S. Citizen

Cris Cyborg taking US Citizen oath

Invicta FC featherweight champion and UFC fighter Cris “Cyborg” Justino became a U.S. citizen on Tuesday.

Cyborg may not have gotten her wish to fight in the UFC’s inaugural women’s 145-pound title fight, but she still garnered a new title, that of Brazilian American.

“I’m proud to officially call myself a Brazilian American starting today!” Cyborg exclaimed on her Facebook page.

After undergoing the lengthy naturalization process, Cyborg cemented her citizenship alongside 2,300 other people at a swearing in ceremony in Los Angeles.

“It’s the opportunity for me (to) give back for the American community what they give to me. I can vote. I can participate more,” said Cyborg. “It is making me appreciate everything they (gave) to me.”
