Company President Ray Sefo Set to Fight at World Series of Fighting 4 in August

Ray SefoWorld Series of Fighting president Ray Sefo is going to do something not many promoters ever do. He’s going to fight for his own promotion.

Sefo announced his participation for the upcoming WSOF 4 on Aug. 10 in Ontario, Calif., during Friday night’s broadcast of WSOF 3 from Las Vegas.

“I will be on (the WSOF 4) card also,” said Sefo. “I’m looking forward to it. I’m very excited about it.”

He will be face Dave Huckaba, who was forced off of the WSOF 3 fight card when his opponent, Rolles Gracie, dropped out due to injury.

It’s actually not so surprising that Sefo wants to fight considering that he has been active in professional combat sports competition of one type or another for nearly two decades.

He’s won numerous world titles in kickboxing, and competed at a high level in both boxing and mixed martial arts. In fact, he’s amassed 93 professional fights by his own account, and that’s why he wants to continue fighting.

Sefo has a particular goal in mind: to reach 100 fights and then retire from active competition.

“It’s one of these things, I’m looking forward to complete 100 fights,” he explained. “I’ve done 93 professional fights, so I’m looking forward to Aug. 10.

“I’ve never retired. I set this personal goal about three years ago. I want to reach that century, a hundred, and then call it quits.”

Tyrone Spong, who was originally expected to fight on the WSOF 3 fight card, will also return to mixed martial arts action at WSOF 4. He will square off against Angel DeAnda.

New World Series of Fighting lightweight signee, Nick Newell, is also expected to compete at WSOF 4 in August.
