Two of the top lightweights in the UFC are set to battle at the first ever UFC on Fox event on Nov. 12 with former WEC champion Ben Henderson facing Clay Guida in Anaheim, Calif.
Sources close to the match-up confirmed the bout to MMAWeekly.com on Tuesday after first being reported by Yahoo! Sports. Neither fight camp has been able to be reached for confirmation on the bout, however, sources have indicated verbal agreements are in place for the fight.
The fight between Henderson and Guida has long been rumored and now it’s set to go down.
Henderson got his place in the fight with a dominant three-round decision win over former top lightweight contender Jim Miller at UFC on Versus 5 in August. The victory put Henderson near the top of the contender’s picture, and now he may get to earn a title shot when he returns in November.
Facing Henderson in Anaheim will be fellow top 155-pound fighter Clay Guida.
Guida gets back in the cage after a win over former WEC champion Anthony Pettis in June. The Chicago area native has won his last four fights in a row, and will be looking for a title shot should he get past Henderson in November.
Henderson and Guida will face off as a part of the UFC on Fox fight card on Nov. 12, but the only thing not determined yet is where the fight will air.
Currently, the show is only slated to feature one fight on Fox, the heavyweight title bout between champion Cain Velasquez and challenger Junior Dos Santos.
It’s likely, however, with the addition of such an important bout like Henderson vs. Guida that other fights will make it to air, it’s just not determined yet how that will happen or what station will feature them.
MMAWeekly.com will have more information on the UFC on Fox card when it becomes available.
