Cage Warriors Fighting Championship bantamweight title holder Brett “The Pikey” Johns (8-0) puts his belt on the line for the first time at December’s Cage Warriors 62 event.
Cage Warriors officials recently announced Johns will make the first defense of his newly minted title against James “Job Done” Brum (13-2) at the Dec. 7 event at Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle, England.
“James Brum has been at the top of this division for a while,” Johns stated. “He’s someone I’ve watched over and over again. He’s a sound guy, too, and a win over him would be huge for me. That’s exactly why I wanted to fight Brum. I can’t wait already.”
Welshman Johns earned the Cage Warriors bantamweight belt with a single-night, four-man tournament victory earlier this month at Cage Warriors 59. In an incredible display of endurance, Johns fought for 40 minutes of total cage time by earning a three-round decision win over David Haggstrom and a five-round decision nod over Jordan Desborough.
Meanwhile, English fighter Brum fought most recently at August’s Cage Warriors 58 event, where he scored an impressive first-round submission win over Ruslan Abiltarov. The positive result pushed Brum’s winning streak to seven fights.
