Anti-Doping Tests at UFC 131 Come Back Clean for All Athletes Tested

The Vancouver Athletic Commission chose six athletes from the UFC 131 fight card to undergo anti-doping testing following their fights on the June 11 event.

Only five of the six fighters selected ended up being tested. The Vancouver Athletic Commission opted to not test Shane Carwin, although he was willing to submit to the test.

According to the commission, they “unilaterally exercised its discretion to rescind its selection of Mr. Carwin for anti-doping testing shortly following his bout at the event.” The commission decided not to test Carwin because they felt it more appropriate for him to get expeditious attention to his medical condition following a brutal three-round affair with dos Santos.

The five athletes that were tested include Krzysztof Soszynski, Nick Ring, Dave Herman, Donald Cerrone, and Junior dos Santos. All five athletes came back with no prohibited substances or method in any of the samples collected.

Each fighter submitted an ‘A’ and ‘B’ sample adhering to the World Anti-Doping Agency’s International Standard for Testing, which were tested in a WADA approved lab.
