A look at ex-UFC champ Jon Jones' court-appointed outreach work in New Mexico

Former UFC titleholder Jon Jones has been all over Albuquerque, N.M., this week as he begins to work off his 72 required youth outreach and community service appearances.

Jones (21-1 MMA, 15-1 UFC) was tasked with the appearances as part of a plea agreement following his involvement in an April hit-and-run incident that left a pregnant woman with a broken arm. “Bones” pled guilty to one felony charge and was given an 18-month probation stint along with the 72 appearances as punishment.

The 28-year-old is still serving an indefinite suspension from the UFC that was handed out when he was stripped of the organization’s light heavyweight championship shortly after the incident.

It hasn’t been the most pleasant year for Jones’ public image, but he’s seemingly doing everything possible to turn a new leaf.

By all accounts, Jones has embraced the required outreach appearances and posted several photos and videos on his official social-media pages of him talking with high school students, young martial artists, baseball players and more.

As Jones continues to fulfill his court-appointed obligations, it’s still unknown when he could get back in the octagon.

Following Daniel Cormier’s successful 205-pound title defense against Alexander Gustafsson earlier this month, Jones posted a video revealing that he misses “it.” Moreover, he later stated that he’s eager to show the world what he’s really capable of, which indicates he’s given serious consideration to a comeback.
