Australian Heavyweight, Soa “The Hulk” Palalei continued his push for another UFC contract with a first-round finish against UFC veteran Sean McCorkle at Australian Fighting Championship 4 (AFC 4) on Friday night in Melbourne, Australia.
Palalei moved forward and got the slam takedown on McCorkle. He then wrestled for position before unloading with ground and pound with the American left to lie on the canvas, covering up with the referee waving the fight away at 1:25 of round one.
The Hulk lost his UFC debut back at UFC 79 against Eddie Sanchez, but has fought back with 10 wins from 11 fights, with his only loss being against current Strikeforce heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier in 2010.
In the co-main event, Peter Graham won with a first-round stoppage over Donnie Lester, who, after having his mouth guard knocked out by a Graham uppercut, didn’t want to continue, claiming that he lost vision.
