'UFC 205 Embedded,' No 1: Unique training, meal prep and shopping with the title fighters

The week finally is here. The UFC heads to New York City for the first time this week for UFC 205, and the promotion is rolling out the “Embedded” treatment for a preview of Saturday’s pay-per-view event at Madison Square Garden.

There is a trio of title fights at the top of the six-fight main card. But most of the eyes are on the headliners. Lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez (28-4 MMA, 3-1 UFC) puts his belt on the line against featherweight champ Conor McGregor (20-3 MMA, 8-1 UFC), who will attempt to become the first concurrent two-division champion in UFC history.

In the co-feature, welterweight champ Tyron Woodley (16-3 MMA, 6-2 UFC) has his first title defense against Stephen Thompson (13-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC). And women’s strawweight champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk (12-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) defends her title against fellow Poland native Karolina Kowalkiewicz (10-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC).

In the debut episode, Alvarez talks about getting under McGregor’s skin, McGregor gets in some ground work, Jedrzejczyk works with a nutritionist and gets some acupuncture, Kowalkiewicz hits the gym and goes shopping, Thompson works with a kids karate class and trains with his father, and Woodley trains at his home gym and rolls with his son.
