HOUSTON – Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson said he tries to keep things professional with his MMA pursuits, but for Friday’s Bellator 149 co-headliner, the former bareknuckle brawler admitted he has some extra motivation.
Slice (5-2 MMA, 1-0 BMMA) said rival and fellow heavyweight Dhafir “Dada 5000” Harris (2-0 MMA, 0-0 BMMA), whom he meets in a Spike-televised bout at Houston’s Toyota Center, essentially makes it impossible to put personal feelings aside.
“With this clown here, it’s personal,” he said at Tuesday’s open workouts. “So I’m just not going to beat him to want to beat him. I’m trying to hurt him.
“I’m going to try to exploit my ability to try to break his jaw or break his ribs. I’m going to try to break something. If I get his ankle, I’m going to break it. I know I’ve got a few seconds before the ref gets in there, so I’m going to go as fast as (I can) … to end this guy’s career.”
Above anything else, Slice said his goal is to send his opponent back to Miami with a broken jaw.
