Khamzat Chimaev picked up a D'Arce choke win at UFC 279 over Kevin Holland, the choke may have caused a subconjunctival hemorrhage in Holland's eyes, an injury which is sometimes found in strangulation cases. It's when tiny blood vessels break underneath the clear surface of the eye which reults in that bloodshot appearance. Holland was probably joking when he said they were from eye pokes. Holland took the loss in stride and is looking for another fight this year, a couple names he has thrown out there is Wonderboy Thompson and Daniel Rodriguez. The Rodriguez fight would make sense because that was supposed to be his original opponent on the card, but when Khamzat didn't make weight the entire card shifted with Khamzat taking on Holland, Rodriguez taking on Jingliang and Ferguson taking on Diaz.
