TAOS, N.M. (KRQE) – Newly released New Mexico State Police dashcam video shows the moments when a man lead police on a car chase through miles of the northern mountains, then used martial arts training to take down an officer.
The man, 27-year-old Shae Russell Nakai Blair was later arrested on a list of charges including battery of a peace officer, DWI, resisting arrest and more. But his arrest came nearly an hour after the chase began.
The incident happened just before 7 p.m. on March 31, 2014. State police officer Todd Sibley began chasing Blair after clocking his black BMW going 93 miles-per-hour on Highway 68, south of Taos.
The video shows that for around 15 minutes, Blair wouldn’t stop. Blair lead the officer through small highway roads around dozens of cars, through narrow bridges and gravel roads. Eventually, Blair pulled over on the side of the road in a large open area.
