With Karo Parisyan (22-10 MMA, 0-1 BMMA) injured, Alejandro Garcia (14-5 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) has stepped in as a replacement and will fight fellow welterweight Cristiano “Soldier Boy” Souza (6-0 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) at Saturday’s Bellator 106 event.
Bellator officials announced the matchup on Monday.
Bellator 106 takes place at Long Beach Arena in California. The main card airs on Spike TV following prelims on Spike.com.
Souza vs. Garcia is slated for the prelims.
Since turning pro in 2009, Souza has racked up a 6-0 record with five stoppages. Prior to his current yearlong layoff, Souza, who appeared on “Fight Master,” posted Bellator wins over John Kelly and Robert Otani.
Garcia, a 10-year pro, makes his Bellator debut while on an 8-1 run. Most recently he knocked out Roberto Vargas (13-2 at the time) at a February KOTC vote. Early in his career, he suffered a submission loss to Nate Diaz at WEC 12.
The official Bellator 106 card now includes:
MAIN CARD (Spike TV, 9 p.m. ET)
PRELIMINARY CARD (Spike.com, 7 p.m. ET)
