Why not Royce Gracie vs. Ken Shamrock?

Bellator 149

The MMA World went a tad crazy this past week as it was announced that UFC Hall of Famer's Royce Gracie and Ken Shamrock would face off in a Bellator matchup at Bellator 149 on February 14th at the Toyota Center in Houston. Yep- Gracie will be 49 years old come fight night, and will actually be the youngster in the cage as compared to the 52 year old Shamrock. Forget that for a moment though....and forget that Gracie (14-2-3) and Shamrock (28-16-2) haven't exactly been household names the past decade. The fact is that this- the third matchup between the two legends will draw attention to the Bellator brand. The two warriors famously battled to a draw in their last bout back in 1995 at UFC 7, and Gracie tapped out "The World's Most Dangerous Man" in 1993 at UFC 1. Wow- 1993 and 1995! Many current MMA champions were just toddlers back then, and yet these two pioneers are still wiling to lace up their little gloves and bang it out. Call it a train wreck, call it a outrage....whatever, you know you will watch it. Throw in the intrique of Kimbo Slice vs. his old pal Dada 5000 as the co-main event, and I say this is must-see cable programming. Thanks Bellator for giving me a blast to the past and thanks Royce and Ken for all you've done for the sport. One more time? This writer says Hell yes! Bring it on.....
