Roy Nelson has the distinction this week of sending Daniel Cormier from the heavyweight division to the land of 205ers.
Whether or not he does it with a win remains to be seen. But what can’t be disputed is that “Big Country” has been involved in some wars in his time in the UFC.
One such battle for Nelson came against Mirko Filipovic at UFC 137. It took him till the third round, but Nelson finally stopped “Cro Cop” to snap a two-fight funk.
Nelson (19-8 MMA, 6-4 UFC) and Cormier (12-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) meet in the co-main event of UFC 166, which takes place on Saturday at Toyota Center in Houston.
