VANCOUVER – Ryan Bader has fought his fair share of past and present champions, so he’s not too worried about his upcoming one: former Strikeforce titleholder Rafael Cavalcante.
Bader (16-4 MMA, 9-4 UFC) and Cavalcante (12-4 MMA, 1-1 UFC) are part of Saturday’s UFC 174 pay-per-view main card at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena.
Perhaps there’s a reason the betting public has tapped Bader, who’s recently won two of his past three (and four of six) at light heavyweight, a small favorite heading into the fight.
“I’ve fought the who’s who of MMA,” said Bader , a “TUF 18? winner who’s tangled with the likes of Jon Jones, Lyoto Machida, Quinton Jackson and Tito Ortiz. “I’ve looked across, and I’ve fought champions and former champions. If you go back and look at my losses, that’s who they are.
” … I’ve fought nothing but the best, so now, at this point in my career, it’s just another guy across the cage.”
