With a light heavyweight addition to the main card, Bellator’s October event in Kansas now is complete.
Aaron Rosa (17-5 MMA, 1-0 BMMA) will return to Bellator for the first time in more than three years to meet Mikhail Zayats (21-7 MMA, 2-1 BMMA). Bellator officials recently announced the new fight for Bellator 103.
Bellator 103 takes place Oct. 11 at Kansas Star Arena at Kansas Star Casino in Mulvane, just south of Wichita. The main card airs on Spike TV after prelims at Spike.com. The event hosts the semifinals of the Season 9 featherweight tournament with Patricio Freire vs. Fabricio Guerreiro and Joe Taimanglo vs. Justin Wilcox.
Rosa returns to the promotion for the first time since Bellator 20, where he took a decision from Robert Villegas. That was the start of a four-fight winning streak that got him an invite from the UFC. But there, he was stopped with a TKO at heavyweight against Joey Beltran at UFC 131, then after dropping back to light heavyweight and beating Matt Lucas, he lost to James Te-Huna at UFC on FX 3 in March 2012 and was released. The Texan has been inactive since then, but will return after a layoff of more than a year and a half.
Zayats will look to get back on track after a unanimous decision loss to Emanuel Newton in the Season 8 light heavyweight tournament finals in March. Prior to that, the Russian had a seven-fight winning streak and had won 11 of 12 fights.
With the addition, the complete Bellator 103 card now includes:
MAIN CARD (Spike TV, 9 p.m. ET)
PRELIMINARY CARD (Spike.com (7 p.m. ET)
