The UFC on Fox 3 ratings were by far the lowest that the promotion has pulled in its three broadcasts on Fox. The preliminary bouts for the event on Fuel TV followed suit, marking a new low.
The UFC on Fox 3 preliminary bouts on Fuel TV drew an average audience of just 86,000 viewers for the three-hour broadcast on the action sports network. Of the four events Fuel TV has aired preliminary bouts for – including two UFC on Fox events and two UFC on FX events – this is the first time the ratings have dipped below 100,000 viewers.
Preliminary bouts on Fuel TV have averaged 122,750 viewers per event, including the UFC on Fox 3 prelims.
While Fox and Fuel TV executives have been extremely happy with the ratings growth on the action sports network, UFC officials surely weren’t pleased with the overall dip in TV ratings for the UFC on Fox 3 event, both on Fox and on Fuel TV.
Fox executives are typically comparing ratings to past network performance and where they land in key demographics on a given night, while UFC president Dana White and other UFC officials are usually keyed in on the overall growth of their brand’s audience.
