UFC Nashville Weigh-in Results: Teiexeira and OSP Spot-On, but Two Fighters Miss Weight

UFC Fight Night 73: Teixeira vs. Saint Preux takes place on Saturday in Nashville, but first, the 26 fighters on the card had to step on the scale to weigh in on Friday afternoon.

The main event features a battle between two of the top light heavyweights in the UFC, each looking to place himself in position for a shot at current UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier.

Glover Teixeira is currently the No. 4 ranked 205-pounder in the UFC, but he has lost his two most recent fights. He failed to wrest the belt from the-champion Jon Jones before he was stripped of the belt, and followed that with a unanimous-decision loss to Phil Davis. A victory over Ovince Saint Preux, however, would keep him at the top end of the rankings and position him well in a division that is currently lacking in clear-cut contenders.

No. 6 ranked Saint Preux has perhaps even more upside than Teixeira should he win on Saturday. He has won seven of his last eight bouts with back-to-back victories over Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Patrick Cummins coming into this fight.

Neither Teixeira nor Saint Preux had any issues making weight, but two other main card fighters did. Sara McMann looked surprised when stepped on the scale at 136.5 pound for her bantamweight bout with Amanda Nunes, while flyweight Ray Borg was 0.75 pounds over the 126-pound limit for his fight with Geane Herrera. Each was given one hour to shed the excess weight.
