CINCINNATI – MMAjunkie was on scene for today’s official fighter weigh-ins for UFC Fight Night 40, where all 26 competitors eventually made weight for Saturday’s card.
In the main event, Ohio native Matt Brown (18-11 MMA, 11-5 UFC) will fight in front of his home fans for the first time since 2009, trying to extend his impressive six-fight winning streak at welterweight against Erick Silva (16-4 MMA, 4-3 UFC).
And in the co-main event, a pair of middleweights meet, with each needing to right their tracks. Lorenz Larkin (14-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC), who has lost two of three in the UFC, takes on Constantinos Philippou (12-4 MMA, 5-3 UFC), who has lost back-to-back fights after a five-fight winning streak.
Also on the main card, Daron Cruickshank (14-4 MMA, 4-2 UFC) meets Erik Koch (14-3 MMA, 3-2 UFC) in a bout many are predicting for “Fight of the Night”; “TUF 16? vet Neil Magny (9-3 MMA, 2-2 UFC) squares off with Tim Means (20-5-1 MMA, 2-2 UFC), who returns to the UFC on short notice; heavyweight Soa Palelei (20-3 MMA, 2-1 UFC) welcomes South Africa’s Ruan Potts (8-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) to the promotion; and to open the main card, Chris Cariaso (16-5 MMA, 5-4 UFC) meets Louis Smolka (7-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) in a flyweight contest.
Today’s weigh-ins took place at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, the same venue that hosts Saturday’s card. The six-fight main card airs on FOX Sports 1 at 10 p.m. ET (7 p.m. PT) following four prelims on FOX Sports 2 (8 p.m. ET) and three on UFC Fight Pass (6:30 p.m. ET).
