Donald Cerrone vs. Rafael dos Anjos

Round 1: Cerrone opens with his patented leg kicks. dos Anjos ansers by trying to get his jab going. Cerrone clinches briefly and lands a knee to the midsection. They separate and start trading kicks and punches, but Cerrone seems to be a little more dialed in, landing the more powerful blows of the two, and looking much more relaxed. Cerrone goes hard with the low kicks again, but dos Anjos lands a solid hook to the body. Cerrone keeps kicking, but dos Anjos counter with the right hook and drops Cerrone. dos Anjos follows him down and gets caught briefly in a triangle choke. dos Anjos slips out and ends up in Cerrone’s full guard. Cerrone again goes for the triangle, but gets nailed with a big elbow. dos Anjos landing some solid ground and pound in the final minute, mixing up punches with heavy elbows. Cerrone is just trying to swing through the strikes and holds on to the horn. MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for dos Anjos

Round 2: Cerrone again opens with low kicks, but looks a little more hesitant now.  dos Anjos’ confidence has grown as he’s being much more aggressive to start round two. The Brazilian clinches and land a knee to Cerrone’s face and then follows with a left hook to the body. Cerrone returns fire with a front kick and punch combination, then he shoots and puts dos Anjos on his back. Cerrone starts in full guard, but passes to half guard, threatens an arm-in guillotine, but dos Anjos slips out and they return to their feet. Now dos Anjos shoots, but Cerrone stuffs it and lands a knee to the body on the break. Cerrone starts employing his jab, but dos Anjos shoots and gets another takedown, landing in Cerrone’s full guard, where they finish the round. MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for dos Anjos

Round 3: Cerrone opens with a strong leg kick, dos Anjos answers with a high kick. Cerrone still looks a little hesitant to fully engage, but dos Anjos is being choosy with his shots as well. Cerrone lands a left kick to the body, but dos Anjos catches, tries to take Cerrone down, but gets stuffed. Cerrone lands another hard leg kick and then moves in with a knee to the body that lands square. dos Anjos is now backing up, while Cerrone ups the pace and starts landing more kicks and mixes in a few punches. dos Anjos goes for another takedown, but gets stuffed again and eats a knee to the midsection. Lots of kicks from Cerrone in the waning moments, but dos Anjos lands that looping right hook. The clock winds down, but neither fighter can muster a finishing blow. MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for Cerrone, but the fight 29-28 for dos Anjos
