UFC 208 Gate and Attendance: Fights Set Arena Record for Highest Grossing Sporting Event

The UFC fans came out in droves for UFC 208, setting the record for highest grossing sporting event in the arena’s history on Saturday in Brooklyn, N.Y.

The Barclays Center played host to the event headlined by the inaugural UFC women’s featherweight title fight, seeing 15,628 sell out the stands with a $2,275,105 gate.

Fans witnessed history as Germaine de Randamie topped Holly Holm in the evening’s featured bout. As the decision was announced, de Randamie’s hand was raised and the championship belt was placed around her waist. The win didn’t come without controversy, however, as de Randamie on two occasions landed punches after the bell, but never had points deducted.

In the co-main event, Anderson Silva picked up his first win since 2012, topping Derek Brunson in a close fight. After the bout, the 41-year-old Silva said he still has fights left on his UFC contract and indicated he plans on finishing out those obligations before calling it a career.

The 10-fight card was one full of decisions with Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza picking up the only win within the distance, finishing Tim Boetsch by submission in the first round.
