NEW YORK – MMAjunkie was on scene for today’s early UFC 205 fighter weigh-ins. The six fighters scheduled for the three title fights made weight, but there were other issues.
The early weigh-ins, which preceded this evening’s ceremonial affair, took place in New York City. The ceremonial weigh-ins take place at 6 p.m. ET at Madison Square Garden, the same venue that hosts Saturday’s event, which has a main card on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.
Thiago Alves (21-10 MMA, 13-7 UFC) missed weight for his lightweight debut against Jim Miller (27-8 MMA, 16-7 UFC), but the fight will go on. That won’t be the case for Kelvin Gastelum’s (12-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC) fight with Donald Cerrone (31-7 MMA, 18-4 UFC), though. Gastelum didn’t even weigh in and announced he wouldn’t make weight.
The complete UFC 205 early weigh-in results include:
MAIN CARD (pay-per-view, 10 p.m. ET)
PRELIMINARY CARD (FS1, 8 p.m. ET)
PRELIMINARY CARD (UFC Fight Pass, 7 p.m. ET)
* – Alves missed the 156-pound limit and was fined 20 percent of his purse. Because the commission required them to be within five pounds of each other, Miller added weight to make the bout with Alves official. Miller wasn’t fined.
+ – Fight is off after Gastelum opted not to weigh in
UFC officials recently adopted the early weigh-ins to allow fighters more time to rehydrate before the event.
In addition to the official results above, you can watch a live video stream of the ceremonial weigh-ins here on MMAjunkie at 6 p.m. ET.
